Letters of Credit
What Is a Letter of Credit?
A Letter of Credit (L/C) is a trade finance instrument issued by the Bank that provides a payment guarantee to a supplier or beneficiary once the agreed terms and required documentation have been met. Used in both domestic and international trade, a Letter of Credit helps reduce payment risk, builds confidence between trading partners, and facilitates the smooth execution of commercial transactions.
To apply for a Letter of Credit, applicants are required to provide the following:
- A completed Letter of Credit application or formal request letter
- A valid purchase agreement or contract with the supplier
- A satisfactorily operated current account with the Bank for a minimum of six months
- Details of the goods or products to be financed
- Information on the proposed warehousing or storage arrangements, where applicable
- Acceptable security or collateral, as required by the Bank
- The applicant’s minimum financial contribution, where applicable
- The type of Letter of Credit required (Confirmed or Unconfirmed)
- The full banking details of the beneficiary, including the beneficiary’s bank
Bill Collections
What Is Bill Collection?
Bill Collection is a trade finance service through which the Bank facilitates the collection of payments on behalf of businesses engaged in local or international trade. Under this arrangement, commercial and financial documents are handled through banking channels, allowing payment or acceptance to be obtained from the buyer in accordance with agreed terms. This process helps reduce collection risk, improve payment efficiency, and support secure, well-managed trade transactions.
To apply for our Bill Collection service, you will need to provide:
- A formal request or application letter
- A satisfactorily maintained current account with the Bank for a minimum of six months
Currency Shipments
What Are Currency Shipments?
Currency Shipment is a foreign exchange service that enables the secure transportation of foreign banknotes for businesses and institutions with international cash requirements. Whether supporting cross-border trade, overseas operations, or cash management needs, the service provides a safe, reliable, and efficient way to move foreign currency while minimizing operational and security risks.
To access our Currency Shipment service, customers must provide the following:
- An active current account with the Bank
- A foreign currency account with the Bank
- Copies of invoices or supporting trade documents relating to the foreign currency transaction
